Kavita Kunwar remained unbeaten on 19 runs in 20 balls with 1 four. Nepal lost another opener Kavita Joshi for a duck. She was dismissed on the first ball she faced. Vice-captain Soni Pakhrin was dismissed for 8 in 14 balls and 12 runs.
Earlier, Malaysia, which had won the toss and elected to bat, had scored 82 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Aina Hashim scored 17, Dhanushree Muhunan 15 and Ariena Natasa scored 13 not out. Malaysia's innings had only 5 fours.
