The annual general meeting of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has begun in Biratnagar. The two-day general meeting was inaugurated by Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki.

It is said that various contemporary issues related to cricket will be discussed in the general meeting. In particular, the issue of participation in international competitions without renewal for the last 10 months is expected to be included as a major agenda in the general meeting.

CAN last held its general meeting in Asoj 2081. It has been mentioned that the renewal made at that time is valid only until Poush 9, 2081. It is expected that there will be a complicated debate in the general meeting on this issue.

The National Sports Council (NSC) has started an investigation after the petition of CAN board members. According to Saroj Pokharel, head of the Sports Development Department of NSC, on Friday, a 7-day deadline was given and audited documents including were sought from CAN. NSC Member Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta has also said that they have started an investigation into the latest controversy.

Nine board members had filed a petition with the National Security Council last Monday, alleging a lack of financial discipline at CAN.
