Nepal defeated Oman by 81 runs in the Cricket World Cup League 2 on Tuesday, thanks to Asif Sheikh's brilliant batting and Gulshan Jha's excellent bowling.
Nepal, who won the toss and elected to bat at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur after Asif scored 94 runs, were all out for 256 runs in 49.5 overs in the scheduled 50-over match. In reply, Oman was all out for 175 runs in 39.5 overs after Gulshan took 5 wickets.
This is the first time Nepal has defeated Oman in Kirtipur in League 2. Oman had defeated Nepal three times before in the home ground of Nepali cricket. After winning the third win in this series, Nepal has reached 18 points in 24 matches and Nepal remains in seventh place. Oman is in third place with 31 points in 28 matches.
In the previous match against Nepal, Oman captain Jatinder Singh, who scored 130 runs, was dismissed by Nandan Yadav for 12 runs in the seventh over, and Nepal started taking wickets. Nandan immediately ran out Siddharth Bukkapatnam for zero with a straight throw, giving Nepal its second success.

Asif, who was dropped from the Nepali team due to poor performance, had earlier hit 7 fours and 5 sixes in 97 balls. This is his second highest score in one-day internationals. He missed out on his second century after being caught on the boundary line.
Oman started the first over with a spinner. Left-arm spinner Shakil Ahmed bowled a maiden in the first over, but Jiten Ramanandi caught Binod Bhandari for a duck in the first ball of the second over. Asif and Arjun Kumal then put on a 123-run partnership for the second wicket. Arjun, who was playing the second match, scored 48 runs. He hit 4 fours in 87 balls.
