The 13th edition of the Rara Gold Cup football tournament held at Rajarani in Dhankuta has been won by the defending champion Birtamod United of Jhapa.

Birtamod United also won the 12th edition of the Rara Gold Cup football tournament, which has the highest prize money in Dhankuta district.
In the final 90 minutes of the scheduled time, the host Rara scored a goal to take the lead over Birtamod. In the additional nine minutes, Birtamod scored a goal against Rara to level the game. After this, the match was decided by a penalty shootout. The host Rara Football Club lost to Birtamod by a 5-4 goal margin in the penalty shootout.
Diwas Urau, Sanjay Limbu, Mausam Subba, Vivek Poudel and Prashant Lakshmi scored the goals for the title winner Birtamod United. Similarly, Kiran Chemjong, Bishal Bhandari, Mani Lama and Shishir Lekhi scored goals for the runner-up Rara Football Club. Dipesh Gurung's shot was thwarted by the goalkeeper of Birtamod United.
