The UAE secured a crucial 54-run victory over Oman in the Cricket World Cup League 2 on Sunday with the top four batsmen scoring half-centuries. Despite the win, the UAE remains at the bottom. The match was reduced to 47-47 overs due to the wet pitch at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium Kirtipur. After the top four batsmen scored half-centuries, the UAE, who won the toss and elected to bat, scored 308 runs in the stipulated overs for the loss of 8 wickets.

UAE fast bowler Junaid Siddiqui took 6 wickets in his best performance in his career, but in reply, Oman was bowled out for 254 runs in 39.5 overs. He took 5 wickets for the first time in an ODI. In the process, he became the highest wicket-taker from the UAE in ODIs. His wicket tally has reached 98. He took 49 runs in a total of 7.5 overs. Shahdad took 2 wickets for 34 runs in 5 overs and Mohammad Jawadullah took 1 wicket.

This is the second time that UAE has defeated Oman in this League 2 series. However, UAE had lost both times to Nepal. Nepal and Oman will compete in the final match on Tuesday.

Oman had already defeated Nepal by 102 runs in the first match. UAE will now travel to the US to play against the US and Namibia and Scotland to play against Scotland and Canada, while they will host Oman and the Netherlands at home. Before that, Oman will play Nepal and Canada in Muscat in October.
