Machhindra, which won the 7th Jhapa Gold Cup with a prize money of 1.5 million rupees in Falgun, is considered a contender for the title. Meanwhile, N Penang of Malaysia is entering the field with African players.
Machhindra had defeated N Penang 2-1 in the previous Jhapa Gold Cup. Having lost to Machhindra in the first meeting, N Penang is looking to take revenge in the Ilam meeting.
Machhindra had earlier lifted the 7th My Valley Gold Cup title in Ilam. The match between the two strong teams today is expected to be very competitive and exciting for the audience.
Rolling Club Dhulabari Jhapa defeated Phidim Sporting by 3-0 goals in the second day of the Ilam Gold Cup.
Pathari 11 Morang made a winning start by shocking the host Red Harsh Football Club in the opening match of the tournament that started on 5th Baisakh. Rolling Club and Pathari 11 have entered the semi-finals.
The winner of the tournament, which will conclude on 12th Baisakh, will receive a trophy, medal and certificate along with Rs 1 million. The runner-up will receive a trophy, medal and certificate along with Rs 500,000.
Eight teams, both domestic and foreign, are participating in the tournament, which is sponsored by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). Nepal's famous teams participating in the competition include Machhindra Football Club, New Road Team (NRT), Chitlang Football Club, Phidim Sporting Panchthar, Rolling Club Jhapa and the host Red Harsh Club.
Similarly, Malaysia's N Penang FC and India's Georgian Football Club Kalempung have participated in this edition.
