Jhapa-11 has won the Birat Gold Cup football tournament. Jhapa won the title for the second time by defeating home team Samrat Sporting Club by a margin of 2-1 in the final held at the Shahid Stadium in Biratnagar on Sunday night.
Jhapa received Rs 1.1 million in cash with the title, while runner-up Samrat Sporting settled for Rs 500,000. Earlier, Jhapa won the title for the first time by defeating Tribhuvan Army in the 2072 BS edition.
Rajesh Dahal and Divas Urau scored goals in Jhapa's victory this time. Saurabh Tamang scored a consolation goal for Samrat.
The first half of the competitive final ended in a goalless draw. Jhapa's Rajesh Dahal scored in the 81st minute of the game to give the team the lead. Rajesh directed a long pass from goalkeeper Vishal Sunar into the goal.
