Italy failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday. This is the third consecutive time that the once world football powerhouse Italy has failed to qualify for the World Cup.

Italy lost 4-1 to Bosnia and Herzegovina in a penalty shootout. The previous match had ended in a 1-1 draw. Bosnia and Herzegovina booked their place in the next World Cup with the win.

Turkey, Sweden and the Czech Republic were the other teams to qualify through the European qualifiers. Turkey beat Kosovo 1-0, with Kerem Akturkoglu scoring the decisive goal.

Sweden, on the other hand, beat Poland 3-2. Similarly, the Czech Republic beat Denmark 3-2.
