Minister for Education, Science and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has put forward a plan to include sports in the school curriculum for the development of Nepal's sports sector.

Minister Pokharel, who visited the National Sports Council for inspection on Tuesday, said this. Minister Pokharel said that the goal is to produce players from the grassroots in the next 5 years. Minister Pokharel pointed out that the main problem currently seen in Nepal's sports sector is the inability to produce players from a young age. Recounting the experience of the 'Creative School' program started while he was in Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Minister Pokharel now expressed his commitment to linking sports with education in a policy and legal manner.

'If we look at Nepal's sports industry now, most of the players have come from the Nepal Police, Army and APF because there is a guarantee of diet, training and regular income. However, you can join those bodies only after reaching the age of 18. If we can provide the same level of diet and training from a young age, the development of sports will be even faster,' he said. He said, 'While in the metropolis, due to some legal hurdles, it could not be included in the curriculum. However, now we are at the policy formulation level. No one will stop us from integrating sports into the school curriculum in collaboration with the Curriculum Development Center.'

Minister Pokharel said that sports play a big role not only in physical but also in mental health. Urging everyone to see themselves as a 'team member' rather than a minister or chairman, Pokharel called on all experts and employees to abandon prejudice and unite. Minister Pokharel clarified that his main goal is to develop the sports sector in the next 5 years by connecting it with the grassroots.
