The inaugural match of the PM Cup organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is starting from Saturday morning between Madhesh and Koshi Provinces. Madhesh Province's Sports and Social Welfare Minister Basant Kushwaha will inaugurate the PM Cup.
Seven provinces and three departmental teams (Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army) will compete in the PM Cup. The PM Cup, which will run until Baisakh 3, is a one-day cricket league of CAN. The match will be of 50 overs. Under the PM Cup, there will be 17 matches including the opening match in Janakpur, while the final match will be held in Birgunj along with some matches, informed PM Cup Cricket Tournament Director Akash Pandey.
All three pitches at the Ramjanaki Cricket Ground in Janakpur have been prepared for the PM Cup. According to Tournament Director Pandey, the Janakpur cricket ground is ready for the PM Cup. ‘All three pitches have been prepared by using rollers,’ Pandey said, ‘Arrangements have been made for spectators to sit outside the boundaries around the cricket ground where the game will be played.’ Last year’s Jai Trophy cricket tournament was also organized in Janakpur and Birgunj in Madhesh Province.
