The Jai Trophy Men's Elite Cup final between Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Club has entered an exciting phase. Army has scored 178 runs in 52 overs for the loss of 9 wickets at the end of the second day's play on Wednesday.

Both teams scored 221 runs in the first innings, so the third day's match is likely to be competitive. The 47 runs that Shahab Alam and Akash Chand put on for the ninth wicket could be very important for Army. This is why Army is looking to give a challenging score to the defending champion Police at the Upper Cricket Ground in Mulpani.

Shahab was dismissed for 33 runs. He hit 3 fours and 1 six in 31 balls before being dismissed by Karan KC. Akash is playing 15 runs including 1 four in 36 balls. Sompal Kami, who came into the batting despite suffering from an injury in his left arm, is supporting Akash without scoring any runs in 7 balls.

Karan cut and bowled the opening duo of Tritraj Das and Imran Sheikh. Imran scored 16 off 28 balls and Trit scored 20 off 37 balls. Bhim Sarki and Kushal Malla took the Army's score to 100 runs. But after losing 6 wickets in a gap of 25 runs, the team reached the position of 130-8.

Bhim scored 32 runs with 6 fours in 52 balls and Kushal scored 36 runs with 2 fours and 1 six in 58 balls. But then captain Binod Bhandari was out for 12, Bashir Ahmed for zero, Naren Saud for 2, Pawan Karki for zero. After that, Shahab and Akash rescued the Army. Karan KC, Lalit Rajbanshi and Sagar Dhakal took 3 wickets each for Police.

The game of the day was completely in Karan's name. After Karan shared a 62-run partnership with Lalit for the ninth wicket, Police equalized the score with Army in the first innings. After Karan scored an unbeaten 72, defending champions Police were all out for 221 in 61.4 overs. Army had scored that run in the first innings with Imran Sheikh's 50, Bhim Sarki's 39 and Kushal Malla's 38.

Karan shared a 24-run partnership with Sagar for the tenth wicket. Akash dismissed the last batter Sagar for a duck, ending Police's innings. Karan hit 7 fours and 2 sixes in 109 balls. After Army took the new ball in the 60th over, Karan hit Sompal for a six in the first ball. Sompal took 5 wickets. He spent 72 runs in 17 overs, keeping 3 maidens. Akash took 2 wickets and Shahab, Pawan and Naren took 1 wicket each.

Earlier, Police had started the day's play at 41-3. Unbeaten batter Dinesh Kharel was out for 17 runs after adding 6 individual runs. He hit 2 fours in 56 balls. Rashid Khan scored 15 runs. He hit 2 fours in 44 balls. Both were dismissed by Sompal.

Captain Arif Sheikh and Shankar Rana shared a 33-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Shankar scored 15 runs in 22 balls, including 3 fours. Gulshan Jha could only add 4 runs in 10 balls.
