Nepali cricketers will receive a prize money of $256,154 for competing in the Twenty20 World Cup. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday finalized the amount that players will receive for playing in the World Cup.
It was decided that a team would receive at least $225,000 for participating in the competition. Nepal has received an additional amount of more than $31,000 since it won one match. Nepal, which lost to England, Italy and the West Indies in the first three matches while playing the World Cup for the third time, defeated Scotland by 7 wickets in the final match.
According to the ICC, a bonus amount was kept for each match win, while a certain prize money was already fixed for the teams that played the group stage, Super Eight, semi-finals and final. The ICC has stated that the prize money will be given after deducting taxes based on that.
Along with Nepal, Italy, the Netherlands and the UAE will receive $256,154 each. Italy defeated Nepal by 10 wickets in their only victory. Players from Canada, Namibia and Oman, who have not won a single match in the tournament, will share $225,000 in prize money.
Indian cricketers, who won the title for a record third time by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final, will receive $2,639,423. New Zealand players, who played in the final for the second time, will receive $1,422,692.
According to the ICC, a total of $1.25 million in prize money is being given to the players of the 20 teams participating in the World Cup. South Africa, which reached the semi-finals, is the only one to receive $1 million. South Africa, which lost to New Zealand in the semi-finals, will receive $1,055,777.
