South Africa registered their second consecutive win in the Super Eights of the T20 World Cup 2026 on Thursday. With this, their chances of entering the semi-finals have been strengthened.

They easily defeated West Indies by 9 wickets in a Group One match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The hero of this victory was captain Aiden Markram. He scored 82 runs not out and South Africa chased 177 runs for victory, losing 1 wicket in 16.1 overs.

Markram hit 7 fours and 4 sixes in 46 balls. He shared a 95-run partnership with Quinton de Kock for the first wicket. De Kock scored 47 runs in 24 balls. He hit 4 fours and 4 sixes. Another not-out batsman Ryan Rickelton scored 45 runs in 28 balls. South Africa have won all their matches in the tournament. This is the first defeat for West Indies.

South Africa topped the group with 4 points. West Indies were limited to 2 points. Invited to bat first, West Indies scored 176 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. They did not have a good start and at one point they had lost 7 wickets by the time they scored 83 runs. Since then, Jason Holder and Romario Sheppard put on an aggressive partnership of 89 runs.

Holder scored 49 runs off 31 balls. That included 4 fours and 3 sixes. Sheppard remained not out on 52 runs. He hit 3 fours and 4 sixes. Lungi Egidi was the most impressive South African bowler. He took 3 wickets for 30 runs. Similarly, Kagiso Rabada and Corbin Boch took 2 wickets each.
