Machhindra Football Club, comprised of national players, has become the champion of the seventh Jhapa Gold Cup.

Machhindra won the Jhapa Gold Cup Binod Basnet Memorial Edition title for the first time on Monday, beating the Armed Police Force's APF Football Club by a 3-1 goal margin.

Machhindra received Rs 1.5 million in cash and a trophy along with the title. APF settled for Rs 750,000. The Jhapa Gold Cup is the football tournament with the highest prize money in Nepal this year.

Machhindra took the lead in the 31st minute of the match. Striker Pradeep Budhathoki scored a goal from a pass by foreign player Ayola Hamzat. His shot, which hit the left bar of the opposition post, was scored.

Machhindra, who kept up constant pressure on APF in the first half, scored another goal in the 45th minute of the first half. Machhindra's Franjk Anoh managed to score a goal from Devendra Tamang's long shot.

Machhindra added another goal in the 83rd minute of the game. Defender Alison Alizonov scored a goal from Ayola Hamzat's corner kick.

The best goalkeeper was Vishal Shrestha of Machhindra, the best coach was Pravesh Katwal of Machhindra, and the high scorer was Jonathan Zorilla of Machhindra. They each received 35 thousand rupees and a trophy.

Among the spectators who bought tickets to watch football in the competition, Priti Moktan of Birtamod received a scooter from Yamaha Company through Golapratha.

Meanwhile, former national footballer Narottam Gautam, a resident of Mechinagar, Kakadbhitta, was honored with a cash prize of 25 thousand rupees.

10 teams, including three departmental clubs of Nepal and three foreigners, participated in the competition.
