Bal Sansar English Boarding School and Dhankuta English Boarding School have won the U-12 and U-14 categories respectively in the school-level football competition organized in Dhankuta.
New Nav Prabhat Club, Dhankuta, has organized a school-level football tournament with the aim of spreading awareness against child labor.
8 schools participated in the tournament held at Tallo Tundikhel, Dhankuta from Magh 29. The tournament was conducted in two age groups, U-12 and U-14.
In the final match of the U-12 category, Bal Sansar English Boarding School defeated Tamor Valley English Boarding School by a score of 7-6 in a trybreaker to lift the title. The winning team received a trophy, medal and certificate along with a cash prize of Rs 10,000, while the runner-up Tamor Valley settled for Rs 7,500 in cash.
Similarly, in the U-14 category, Dhankuta English Boarding School defeated Bal Sansar English Boarding School by a score of 4-2 in a trybreaker to win the title. The winner, Dhankuta English Boarding School, received a trophy, medal and certificate along with a cash prize of Rs 20,000, while the runner-up, Bal Sansara, received a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
The competition also included awards in categories such as Best Coach, Best Goalkeeper, Best Defense, Best Forward, Best Midfielder, Most Goalscorer and Emerging Player in both categories.
According to Govinda Rai, President of the Club, the competition is believed to increase interest in sports among students and help develop discipline, team spirit and leadership skills.
