Pakistan is finally set to play against India in the Twenty20 World Cup 2026. Pakistani state television confirmed this through X on Monday night.
Pakistan's state-run television X reported, "Pakistan is ready to play the match against India scheduled for February 15. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka had requested it, while India is ready to accept some of Pakistan's conditions."
The development came after the International Cricket Council held talks with representatives of the Pakistan and Bangladesh Cricket Boards. Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi participated in the talks on Pakistan's behalf. According to Pakistan's Dawn newspaper, Sri Lankan President Anurag Kumar had earlier spoken to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and formally requested to participate in the match.
Earlier, Pakistan had announced a boycott of the match against India in protest against the decision to keep Bangladesh out of the tournament. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has also thanked Pakistan for its support during difficult times.
