League champion Church Boys United has been forced to play two Gold Cup matches on the same day after the host Jhapa 11 Football Club announced the match schedule.

Church Boys will have to play the 26th edition of the international invitational Buddha Subba Gold Cup and the 7th Jhapa Gold Cup on the same day on Sunday, informed club president Ruben Rai. According to him, the club is in serious trouble due to the clash of game schedules.

On Magh 27, the host Dharan Football Club had announced the Buddha Subba Gold Cup schedule and scheduled the second quarter-final match between Church Boys and Nepal Police Club today. But about a week later, when the Jhapa Gold Cup host Jhapa 11 Football Club announced the schedule, the pre-quarter-final match was scheduled between Church Boys and Tribhuvan Army Club.

Dharan Football Club president Pratap Tamang claimed that the schedule of both competitions was made public based on coordination. He said, 'At their request, it was initially agreed to make the schedule of the Buddha Subba Gold Cup public and make the tie-sheet of the Jhapa Gold Cup based on that. But that did not work out and the match was held by competing teams.'

Jhapa 11 had to play the inaugural match yesterday, less than 24 hours after winning the second pre-quarter final of the Budhasubba Gold Cup due to scheduling conflicts. Nepal Police Club, which lost to Jhapa 11 in the inaugural match, is competing with Church Boys in the Budhasubba Gold Cup today.

Jhapa 11 Football Club President Rai complained that despite repeated requests not to play the match on the same day, the club ignored them. He said, 'The club was made the league champion by spending 2-3 crore rupees. But how can the honor of Nepali football be protected if the organizers do not honor the league champion club in the Mofusal Gold Cup?'

Rai said that having to play two competitions on the same day has led to a situation where players and coaches have to be divided, which will increase the risk of conflict within the team.

Meanwhile, Jhapa 11 Football Club member Santosh Thopra has admitted that this situation has arisen due to technical weaknesses. He said that the organizers will be vigilant in preventing such weaknesses from recurring in the future.

Church Boys United is the champion of the last edition of the Jhapa Gold Cup and the runner-up of the Budhasubba Gold Cup.
