Tribhuvan University (TU) won the third University Sports Competition title for the third consecutive time on Friday.
TU won 18 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze medal. There were 19 gold medals in competition. In the first edition held in Kathmandu and the second edition held in Pokhara, TU team became the champion.
In the competition organized by the National Sports Council (NSC), Sudurpaschimanchal University won the remaining 1 gold. Apart from the gold, Sudurpaschimanchal won 6-6 silver and bronze. Kathmandu University, which came in third, won 3 silver and 8 bronze medals.
In the competition co-organized by Kathmandu University and Nepalaya International Pvt. Ltd. and sponsored by KIES Education Consultancy, Mid-Western University won 3 silver and 8 bronze medals, Purbanchal University won 1 silver and 6 bronze medals, and Pokhara University and Gandaki University won 1 bronze each.
In the competition in which 9 universities participated, Lumbini Buddhist University and Agriculture and Forestry University remained medalless.
The winners were awarded by competition coordinator and member of the NSC Executive Committee Kamal Bahadur Bhattarai, member of the NSC Executive Committee Subarna Shrestha, member of the NSC Madhusudan Subedi, Acting Director of the Student Welfare Directorate under Kathmandu University Dr. Gokul KC and others during a program.
279 players competed for 19 gold, 19 silver and 27 bronze medals in the two-day competition held at Kathmandu University in Dhulikhel, according to Min Kumar Sharma, head of the Sports Competition and Planning Department.
