Naraharipur Dojo won the title of the second Shahid Sagar Singh/Gyan Bahadur Shahi Memorial Karate Tournament on Saturday. Naraharipur became the overall team champion with 5 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze medals.
Thecho Dojo came second in the competition organized by Nepal Sitorio Karate Do Association, Prayagpokhari Branch Dojo in Mangalbazaar with 5 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals. The third place host Prayagpokhari won 4 gold, 5 silver and 9 bronze medals. The top three teams received prizes of 15,000, 10,000 and 5,000 respectively.
Madan Majhi in the men's category and Ranjana Chamling Rai in the women's category were declared the best player. Both are from Prayagpokhari. Ayush Maharjan of Chapagaun Dojo was selected as the emerging player.
The winners were awarded by Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya, former Bagmati Province Minister Ramkrishna Chitrakar, competition coordinator and organizer Prayagpokhari Dojo Vice President Manoj Bahadur Nyachho, Nepal National and International Players Association President Deepak Shrestha, and others.
Prayagpokhari Doja coach Bikash Maharjan said that 325 players participated in 22 events in the two-day competition.
