Bishwa Adarsh and Namuna College are set to compete for the title of the third inter-college T-20 cricket tournament underway in Itahari. In the semi-finals held on Friday, Bishwa Adarsh defeated Kantipur of Biratnagar and Namuna defeated Aastha College of Damak to secure the title.
In the first semi-final match held on Friday, Bishwa Adarsh of Itahari came close to the title by defeating Kantipur College by 45 runs. Chasing the target of 159 runs set by Bishwa Adarsh, Kantipur was restricted to 107 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Mannu Das top-scored for Kantipur with 38 runs but could not lead the team to victory. Sitaram Kamat scored 14 runs while Nischal Gupta scored 11 runs. Bishwa Adarsh's Anish Kunwar took 3 wickets while Bhupal Luintel took 2 wickets.
Earlier, Bishwa Adarsh, who had won the toss and elected to bat first, had scored 158 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the allotted 17 overs. Bishwa Adarsh's Roshan Khatri played a half-century innings of 51 runs. Bhupal Luintel scored 47 runs while Akash Saraf added 29 runs. Santosh Gupta of Kantipur took 2 wickets and Khemraj Hamal took 1 wicket. Bhupal Luintel was declared the Player of the Match.
In the second semi-final held on Friday, Namuna College of Itahari secured a thrilling 4-run victory over Aastha College, securing a title clash with Bishwa Adarsh. Namuna, who batted first after winning the toss at the Janata Cricket Ground in Itahari, scored 134 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the shortened match in 17 overs. Namuna captain Gaurav Katuwal remained unbeaten with a top score of 61 runs. He hit 3 sixes and 6 fours in 44 balls. Krishna Bista scored 19 runs and Raju BK scored 14 runs. Ashish Ranamagar of Aastha took 2 wickets. In reply, Aastha, chasing a winning target of 135 runs, could only score 131 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 17 overs. Astha's Bhupal Dangal scored an unbeaten 50 runs while Sarthak Neupane scored 24 runs. Gaurav Katuwal was declared the Player of the Match.
The title clash between Namuna and Bishwa Adarsh will be held on Saturday, according to the organizers, Itahari Adarsh Giants. The winner of the tournament, in which 12 colleges from Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari of Koshi Province competed, will receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and the runner-up will receive Rs 15,000.
