The 7th Mayor's Cup Lalitpur Metropolitan City Inter-ward Table Tennis Tournament, organized by Lalitpur Metropolitan City Ward 6, has begun at Kanibahal in Ward 6 from Sunday.

 With the addition of 1 event, games will be played in 17 events. An open local people's representative category has been added. 616 players from 21 of the 29 wards of Lalitpur Metropolitan City are participating. The total prize money of the competition, which is being organized by the Lalitpur District Table Tennis Association, is 425,000 rupees. The top three players in all 17 events will receive cash prizes.

Chairman of the organizer Ward 6, Rupendra Raj Shakya, said that Lalitpur district is contributing to the nation by producing excellent table tennis players. According to the organizer, the estimated budget of the competition is about 2.9 million rupees.

On the occasion of the inauguration, Provincial Sports Development Council Bagmati Province member Ravi Maharjan, All Nepal Table Tennis Association vice-presidents Suman Khadgi and Purna Shankar Shrestha, treasurer Jackie Maharjan, Lalitpur District Table Tennis Association president Ashish Awale, technical chief Nikesh Joshi, former table tennis head coach Rajendra Kapali, representatives of various wards and others were present. The night tournament, which is being held with the support of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, will run until December 26.
