In a press conference held by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Tuesday, newly appointed coach Pathak expressed confidence that his team will play with the goal of winning the global qualifiers to be held at home. The ICC Twenty20 World Cup qualifiers will be held in Nepal from January 18 to February 3.
Nepal is in Group 'B' in the qualifiers to be held at home. The top three teams in the five-team group including Netherlands, Scotland, Thailand and Zimbabwe will make it to the Super Six. The top four teams in the Super Six will make it to the World Cup to be held in England and Wales from June 12 to 5, 2026.
CAN has appointed an experienced coach for the women's team before the qualifiers. He had worked as the coach of Thailand's women's and men's teams for seven years. This time, he will have to work as the opposing coach of the same team in the qualifiers.
His main responsibility will be to improve the Nepali women's cricket team's weaknesses in fitness and batting. He also mentioned that the Nepali pitch is good for batting.
