Pitambar Timilsina has been elected as the central president of the Nepal Handball Association. A new 21-member working committee led by Timilsina was elected unopposed for the next 4 years at the central general convention held in Pokhara on Thursday.
Mitharam Adhikari, Himal Kumar Shrestha and Gyanendra Pradhan were elected as vice-presidents. Keshav Pathak was elected unopposed as general secretary.
Similarly, Mahendra Bahadur Pun was elected as secretary, Thotha Tamang as treasurer, Narayan Adhikari, Savita Thokar Tamang, Tejendra Bahadur Pandey, Mednilal Pandey and Bishal Basnet were unanimously elected as members. Election Committee Coordinator Kamal Aryal informed that there is a provision to nominate vacant office bearers and members later.
Newly elected general secretary Pathak informed that representatives from 48 districts of 6 provinces except Bagmati from all over the country participated in the association. Although the term of leadership of Tej Bahadur Gurung of Pokhara ended long ago, the general convention could not be held due to various reasons. Gurung, who is also the founding member-secretary of the Provincial Sports Council Gandaki, led the association for two terms before that.
