The fourth Mayor Running Shield competition organized by Tarkeshwor Municipality began on Saturday.
The Mayor's Shield will feature competitions in football, volleyball, kabaddi, athletics, karate, wushu, taekwondo, basketball, badminton, intelligence and table tennis. 2,682 players from 64 schools are participating.
Overall, the team champion will receive a cash prize of Rs 100,000, the runner-up Rs 60,000 and the third place winner Rs 40, according to Bikram Khadgi, chairman of the Tarkeshwor Municipality Sports Development Committee and co-coordinator of the competition. The competition was inaugurated by Tarkeshwor Municipality Mayor Krishnahari Maharjan.
