Dharan Sports Forum is planning to hold a sports festival from Mangsir 25 to Poush 10. The forum held a press conference in Dharan on Saturday and gave information about the festival.
Chairman of the forum, Kishor Rai, said that various popular and professional sports started in Dharan and various medals will be displayed at the festival venue throughout the duration of the games.
Chairman Rai said that stalls of various sports including football, golf, shooting, basketball, hockey, tug of war, and archery will be set up and promoted at the festival. According to him, special honors will be given to past and present best players and national and international Olympians representing the country in various sports on the occasion of the festival.
Chairman Rai said that the festival is being held with the aim of sending a message that Dharan is a city of sports at home and abroad and to make Dharan known to the public.
Meanwhile, the Dharan Mayor School Olympics will continue from this year. The forum has informed that it will conduct the Dharan Mayor Cup School Olympics Festival from Magh 5 to 12. Rai said that the festival will provide an opportunity to showcase the talents of students.
The School to Olympics, which includes 12 different events, will feature sports such as karate, football, table tennis, taekwondo, basketball, badminton, volleyball, cricket, athletics, wushu, judo, and sepak takraw. Similarly, like every year, this year too, the best player of the year, best coach, emerging player, and lifetime player will be nominated and awarded to the winners, said Chairman Rai.
