Nepal defeats Hong Kong to reach semifinals, will play Malaysia to reach final

Nepal has reached the semi-finals of the ACC U-19 Premier Cup cricket tournament thanks to a century partnership between captain Ashok Dhami and Darsh Sunar. Nepal defeated Hong Kong by 119 runs in the ongoing tournament in the UAE on Thursday.

 

Chasing a target of 271 runs, Hong Kong was bowled out for 151 runs in 40.5 overs at the Seven Districts Ground 2 in Ajman. Nepal won this match and reached the semi-finals as the winners of Group 'A'. Nepal had defeated Saudi Arabia by 8 wickets on Monday.  

Nepal will play Malaysia in the semi-finals. The other semi-final will be between UAE and Oman.   Both semi-finals will be held on Saturday.  

Undefeated Poudel took 4 wickets and Ashok took 3 wickets for Nepal.   Aparajit took 31 runs in 10 overs with 2 maidens and Ashok took 29 runs in 10 overs with 2 maidens.   Dayanand Mandal, Sushil Bahadur Rawal and Roshan Bishwakarma took 1 wicket each.  

Hong Kong captain Shiva Mathur scored the highest score of 30 runs. He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes in 29 balls. Opener Jude Lee scored 22 runs in 26 balls with 3 fours, Reyansh Sharma scored 18, Abdul Samad Khan scored 19 and Arez Dar scored 15 runs.

Earlier, Nepal, who had won the toss and elected to bat, scored 270 runs in the stipulated 50 overs on Thursday for the loss of 7 wickets. With the efforts of Ashok and the audience, Nepal had added 68 runs in the last 5 overs. The two shared a 108-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

Ashok was dismissed on the last ball of the innings after scoring 73 runs. He hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in 51 balls. Darsh scored an unbeaten 45 runs in 58 balls. He hit 3 fours.

Opening duo Neeraj Kumar Yadav and Vansh Chhetri were dismissed for 24 runs. Neeraj hit 3 fours in 20 balls and Vansh hit 2 fours in 34 balls. Nischal Chhetri was out for 3 runs.

Sibrin Shrestha scored 25 runs in 59 balls with 1 four. Dilshad Ali scored 32 runs in 50 balls. After Rohan Vishwakarma was out for 22 runs in 21 balls with 2 fours and 1 six, Ashok and the audience batted together. Abhimanyu Ganesan and Daniel Map from Hong Kong took 2 wickets each.
