Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising has said that he is very happy to light up the Tribhuvan University Cricket Stadium and that the first phase of construction has been completed.
The inaugural match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) will start under floodlights from Monday at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur.
The Ministry of Urban Development handed over the first phase of the Tribhuvan University Cricket Stadium to the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) on Sunday.
At the event, Minister Ghising said that he was excited to light up the cricket stadium. Stating that he had come to inspect the first phase of the project two months before the start of the NPL project, he said that the construction of the first phase has been completed. Minister Ghising thanked the construction company for continuously urging it to complete it on time.
He said that the current government has already called for tenders for the construction of the Tribhuvan University ground in the second phase. He said that he hopes that the construction of this stadium will be completed within 2/3 years and that cricket fans will be happy. Minister Ghising also expressed his confidence that he will support the preparation of the Nepali team selected for the T-20 World Cup. He has expressed his commitment to create a medium to organize big international cricket in Nepal. He said that he will also create financial resources from here.
