American batsman Milind Kumar has joined Kathmandu Gorkhaz for the upcoming season of Nepal Premier League cricket. Kathmandu Gorkhaz has signed the 34-year-old as the third foreign player.
Kathmandu Gorkhaz, owned by Kathmandu Sports Development Ventures Pvt. Ltd., has already brought in South African wicketkeeper-batsman Ricardo Vasconcelos, who is playing in England, and Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus.
Milind is in excellent form. In the ongoing World Cup League 2 involving Nepal in Dubai, he scored 70 runs off 50 balls against Nepal and 71 runs off 81 balls against UAE. “Milind has been playing his role for the US team with great success, he has shown consistency and composure in batting,” said Kathmandu Gorkhaz coach Monty Desai. “His ability to play in different situations and under pressure is excellent. We are very excited to have him as part of the Kathmandu Gorkhaz family.”
He made his Ranji Trophy debut in 2011 from Delhi. He then played domestic cricket for Sikkim and Tripura. Milind was a part of the Indian Premier League team twice. In 2014, Delhi Daredevils bought him for Rs 10 lakh and in 2019, Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him for a base price of Rs 20 lakh. However, he did not get to play in the IPL.
He established himself in American cricket through minor league cricket in 2021. He has been playing for Texas Super Kings in the US Major League Cricket for the last three seasons. He made his ODI debut for the US against Canada in The Hague, Netherlands. In September 2025, Milind scored an unbeaten 74 against Namibia and an unbeaten 155 against the UAE in Windhoek, Namibia.
In May this year, he played an unbeaten 115 against Canada and an unbeaten 68 against Oman, which earned him the ICC Player of the Month award.
He is currently third in the list of highest run-scorers in the ongoing World Cup League 2. He has scored 823 runs in 20 matches at an average of over 58 and a strike rate of over 100, including 2 centuries and 6 half-centuries. He also has 27 wickets to his name. Milind has played 90 matches in all formats of Twenty20, scoring over 1,600 runs.
