Tottenham defeated Everton 3-0 on Sunday night in the English Premier League and moved up to third place in the league table.

Mickey van de Ven scored twice for Tottenham. The win moved Tottenham to 17 points from nine games, one behind their north London rivals Arsenal.

Arsenal are top of the table with 22 points from nine games. Bournemouth are in between on 18 points. Arsenal had earlier in the day beaten Crystal Palace 1-0 to strengthen their hold on the top spot. Iberchir Eji scored the decisive goal at the Emirates.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, beat Nottingham Forest 2-0. Manchester City were beaten 1-0 by Aston Villa, with Matt Cash scoring the decisive goal. Burnley also beat Wolves 3-2 in a thrilling encounter.
