Nepal defeated Oman by 38 runs in the Super Six of the Twenty20 World Cup Asia-East Asia Pacific Qualifiers on Wednesday. Chasing a target of 152 runs, the home team Oman could only score 113 runs for the loss of 9 wickets at the Al Emirate Cricket Ground in Muscat.

Nepal and Oman had qualified for the World Cup before entering the field after two results of the day's matches came in their favor. This is Nepal's second consecutive and third World Cup entry in total. In the first two matches on Wednesday, Qatar defeated Japan by 3 wickets and UAE defeated Samoa by 77 runs.

Sompal Kami got Nepal off to a great start by dismissing Oman captain Jatinder Singh in the third over. Jatinder, who hit 2 sixes, scored 14 runs in 11 balls. In the next over, Nandan Yadav dismissed another opener Hamad Mirza for 4 runs.

Earlier, Nepal, who had won the toss and elected to bat, scored 151 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. This was the first time Nepal had scored more than 150 runs in the tournament.
