Nepal defeated Oman by 38 runs in the Super Six of the Twenty20 World Cup Asia-East Asia Pacific Qualifiers on Wednesday. Chasing a target of 152 runs, the home team Oman could only score 113 runs for the loss of 9 wickets at the Al Emirate Cricket Ground in Muscat.
This is Nepal's third consecutive win in the Super Six. Oman suffered its first defeat in the tournament. Nepal now has 8 points, while Oman has 6 points. If Nepal defeats Samoa in the final match on Friday, it will win the tournament.
Nepal and Oman had qualified for the World Cup before entering the field after two results of the day's matches went in their favor. This is Nepal's second consecutive and third World Cup entry in total. In the first two matches on Wednesday, Qatar defeated Japan by 3 wickets and UAE defeated Samoa by 77 runs.
Sompal Kami got Nepal off to a great start by dismissing Oman captain Jatinder Singh in the third over. Jatinder, who hit 2 sixes, scored 14 runs off 11 balls. In the next over, Nandan Yadav dismissed another opener Hamad Mirza for 4 runs.
Amir Kalim was run out for 1 run by Dipendra Singh Airi in a straight throw. Dipendra was run out for the fifth consecutive match in a straight throw. Aryan Bista scored 11 runs in 24 balls. He was caught by substitute fielder Arif Sheikh on the boundary line off Sandeep Lamichhane.

Sufian Mehboob scored 9 runs. He was dismissed by Nandan. Shakil Ahmed 8 and Shah Faisal 3 remained unbeaten. Gulshan took 3 wickets in 4 overs for 31 runs. Nandan took 2 wickets in 4 overs for 19 runs and Sompal took 2 wickets each in 4 overs for 25 runs. Sandeep had 1 wicket.
Earlier, Nepal, who had won the toss and elected to bat, scored 151 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. This was the first time Nepal had scored more than 150 runs in the tournament.
Although Kushal Bhurtel and Asif Sheikh gave a brilliant start, Nepal's middle-order batting again disappointed. The two had put on 61 runs in 8 overs. Asif hit 2 fours and 1 six in 20 balls and scored 24 runs before being bowled by Nadeem Khan.
