Nepal won a thrilling 5-run victory over Qatar on Monday in the Super Six of Twenty20 World Cup Asia-East Asia Pacific Qualifiers. After coming close to losing one more time and reversing the result, Nepal has come close to the Twenty20 World Cup after this victory.
After Sandeep Lamichhane took 5 wickets, Qatar, who entered the field with a target of 148 runs in the tournament being held in Muscat, Oman, were bowled out for 142 runs in 19.5 overs . This is Nepal's second consecutive victory in the Super League. Nepal defeated UAE by 1 run in the first match of Super Six the previous day.
Nepal and Oman have the same 6 points. Nepal and Oman are playing on Wednesday. This will determine the formality of these two teams reaching the World Cup. UAE and Japan have 2 points each. Nepal will play their last match against Samoa on Friday.
Imal Liyanage and Zubair Ali scored 79 runs in 10 overs for the first wicket to give Qatar a great start. Sandeep Lamichhane broke this partnership by bowling Liyanage for 56 runs in the last ball of the 10th over. Liyanage hit 5 fours and 3 sixes in 35 balls. 
Sandeep dismissed Mohammad Asim for 10 runs in his next over. Dipendrasinh Airy ran out captain Mirza Baig for 2 and Adil Alam Ansari ran out Mohammad Tanveer with a direct throw for nil. Zuber got out in the 19th over after 7 wickets fell in front of him. He scored 52 runs off 55 balls hitting 2 fours and 1 six before being dismissed by Nandan.
Sandeep stumped the last two batsmen, Mujeeb ur Rehman and Amir Farooq. Sandeep took 5 wickets for 18 runs in 3.5 overs. This is the second time he has taken 5 wickets in a single match of Twenty20 International. Nandan Yadav took 2 wickets and Dipendra Singh Airi took 1 wicket.
Earlier, after losing the toss, Nepal was invited to bat and scored 147 runs after losing 9 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.

After Dipendra got out in the last ball of the 15th over, Nepal's wicket began to fall . Dipendra played 22 balls and scored 26 runs with 1 boundary. Adil Alam Ansari, who got his first chance in this World Cup Qualifier, was dismissed for just 2 runs in 6 balls.
