According to the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) schedule, Nepal's 2023-24 calendar would be completed after the match with Ireland Wolves. After preparing for some time in Gujarat, India, it was the turn of the Nepali team to qualify for the Asia Cup in Oman and play the World Cup in America and the West Indies.

Nepal played two games with Ireland 'A' playing under the name of Ireland Wolves. After the second match, Nepal's then coach Monty Desai was asked a question, "According to the CAN calendar, all Nepal's domestic competitions have been completed, how do you think Nepal's preparations are before playing two major competitions like the Asia Cup qualifiers and the World Cup?" Many named Afghanistan, Ireland. But in the end, Can confirmed, West Indies 'A' tour of Nepal will have five Twenty20 matches. It was like the first draft of Nepali cricket's relationship with the West Indies.

After playing three Twenty20 series in Shar Jahan, the cricket relationship between Nepal and West Indies will be renewed again. Nepal will play three Twenty20 international matches against West Indies on September 27, 29 and 30. The importance of this series is not limited to this. This is the first series that Nepal is going to play against a country recognized by ICC.

The West Indies 'A' team, which came to Nepal to play a 5 2020 series under the leadership of Roston Chase in Baisakh last year, was not lacking. West Indies won the series 3–2. After Nepal's captain Rohit Paudel scored a century in 47 balls in the last match, Nepal completed the target of 250 runs. Along with captain Chase, Johnson Charles and Gudakesh Moti made it to the Twenty20 World Cup. Sagar Dhakal and Dipendrasingh Airi got a place in Nepal's World Cup team.

The then coach Monty is also one of the messengers who connected the relationship between Nepal and West Indies, which are about 9 thousand miles away. In February 2023, Monty came to Nepal as a coach. Before that, Monty was a batting consultant for West Indies for two years. When the West Indies 'A' team came to Kathmandu, Monty was seen hanging out with his old team. It seemed that he had as much love for Nepal as for the West Indies team.

Under Monty's training, Nepal returned to the Twenty-20 World Cup after 10 years. Nepal went to the island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the West Indies to play the Twenty20 World Cup. While the first two matches were played in America, the home fans strongly supported Nepal in the last two matches against South Africa and Bangladesh in St. Vincent. Coming close to victory in both the games, Nepal turned away.

Roddy Eastwick was one of the reasons why Nepal did not feel like they were playing in a foreign land when they played the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies. Eastwick, who played domestic cricket for Barbados, was once in the West Indies training team with Monty. He remained the bowling coach of the Caribbean team.

The current coach of the Nepali team, Stuart Law, has been the coach of the West Indies for a long time. Recently, during the Nepali team's visit to Scotland, Stuart said, "I am looking forward to meeting the players and officials of the old team. This is a historic series for Nepal, because West Indies is also a two-time T20 World Cup champion.'

Nepal went to Namibia to play World Cricket League 2 in 2015. Before reaching Windhoek, Nepali team was preparing in South Africa. Coincidentally, the West Indies were also there at that time. In a shopping mall, the Nepali team had a meeting with some West Indies players. The Nepalese players did not miss the opportunity to take photos with them. The photo taken by tall Bhuvan Karki with very tall Jason Holder has become like 'iconic'.

Regular captain Sai Hope and other players are absent from the Twenty20 series against Nepal starting on Saturday, but the West Indies team under the captaincy of Akeel Hussain has players like Fabian Allen and Kyle Meyers along with experienced holders.

The players of West Indies showed a good impact in the first season of Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket last year. Wicketkeeper/batter Chadwick Walton from Karnali Yaks, Devrahate fast bowler Ramon Romario Simmonds from Lumbini Lions, all-rounder Raymond Reefer from Pokhara Avengers. All these players gave high performance for their team.

World cricket great player Brian Lara from West Indies came to Nepal for NPL. He revealed that NPL Nepali cricket has great potential. This was not the first time Lara came close to Nepali cricket. In 2013, when Nepal was in the World Cricket League structure, Lara said that he was impressed by the Nepali team after watching the Division 3 final between Nepal and Uganda in Bermuda.

On Wednesday, Lara said on Can's social network, "It's only been a year since I visited the beautiful country of Nepal." Cricket in Nepal is coming up a lot in a short time. Now Nepal and West Indies are playing. I am confused about who to support. Because I love Nepal. I would like to wish the Nepalese team good luck. An emerging nation has an opportunity to play against a big nation. As we know, Nepal is going through difficult times now. I will also watch this series.'
