President of Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) Jeevanram Shrestha on Friday met with representatives of PATH and Health Concern, an organization working on health.

Chairman Shrestha held a meeting with PATH representative Sanju Gaitam and Krishna Prasad Dhakal of Health Concern to discuss the progress of the project jointly launched by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). NOC Vice President Chaturanand Rajavaidya and General Secretary Rajeev Shrestha were also present in the meeting.

PATH has been given the responsibility to coordinate sports and health projects in collaboration with NOC. Health Concern is implementing programs related to this. Health Concern was selected to work on this project through a competitive process. This project has financial support from IOC and WNO.

IOC and WHO have awarded this project to five countries namely Nepal, Vietnam, Peru, Tanzania and Ghana in the first phase. The Ministry of Sports and Health of Bagmati Province in Nepal has selected four districts Chitwan, Lalitpur, Makwanpur and Nuwakot for this project. The primary objective of this project is to promote health through sports.

In the second stage, only Nepal and Vietnam have been selected. The inspection team of IOC will visit Nepal in the second week of December to monitor and evaluate the work done under this project.
