Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL). On Wednesday, Ashwin announced his retirement through X.

Ashwin wrote on social media, 'Today is a special day, so the beginning is also special. It is said that with every ending comes a new beginning.

My time as a player in the IPL is coming to an end today. But my journey is starting in the form of understanding new forms of game possibilities in different leagues. Ashwin also thanked all the franchisees for the great memories and relationships over the years. 

Ashwin is the fifth wicket-taker in the IPL. He has taken 187 wickets at an economy rate of 7.2. Ashwin started and ended his IPL journey with Chennai Super Kings. He also joined Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab (Punjab) Kings.
