Nepal defeated Melbourne Renegades Academy by 33 runs in the ongoing Top&T20 series in Australia's Northern Territory and registered its second consecutive victory in the tournament. Earlier, in their fourth match on Tuesday, Nepal defeated Hobart Hurricanes Academy by 66 runs.
Renegades chasing the target of 140 runs given by Nepal in today's match at Kajalis Arena in Parmsrton, Darwin lost all the wickets in the scheduled 20 overs and were bowled out for 106 runs. For Renegades, Arjun Nair scored 26 runs while Jay Lemire scored 18 runs and Harry Dixon scored 16 runs.
Nepal's Sompal Kami alone took five wickets while covering the Renegades cheaply, while Kushal Bhurtel took two wickets and Rupesh Singh, Dipendra Singh Airi and Shahab Alam each took one wicket each.
After winning the toss, Nepal batted first and made a total of 39 runs after losing nine wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Kushal Malla contributed the most 29 runs for Nepal. He scored 29 runs in 22 balls with one four and one six. Dipendra Singh Airi scored 27 runs off 28 balls while Lokesh Bam added 24 runs off 16 balls. Bhim Sarki scored 17 runs and Arif Sheikh and Rupesh Singh scored 12 runs each.
Renegades' Fergus O'Neill, Lachlan Bangs, Callum Stowe and Michael Archer took two wickets each. Nepal had previously won one of the four matches and lost three matches.
Nepal was defeated by NT Strike by 42 runs in the first match, Bangladesh 'A' by 32 runs in the second match and Melbourne Stars by 31 runs in the third match. Nepal will play against Pakistan Shaheens on August 6.
