Kushal Malla has returned to the national cricket team. Including him, Nepal has announced a 16-member team for the Top End T20 cricket tournament to be held in Australia on Monday. Organized by the Northern Territory, the tournament is being held in Darwin from August 14 to 24.

Debrehate batting all-rounder Kushal was not included in the squad after the arrival of new coach Stuart Law. Because of this, Kushal missed the World Cup League 2 as well as the tri-nation Twenty20 series on the Scotland tour. Kushal will return to the Nepali team from the top end.

The Nepalese team announced under Rohit Paudel's captaincy consists of Dipendra Singh Airi (Vice-Captain), Sandeep Lamichhane, Kushal Bhurtel, Asif Sheikh, Kushal Malla, Gulshan Jha, Arif Sheikh, Bhim Sarki, Rupesh Kumar Singh, Sompal Kami, Nandan Kumar Yadav, Karan KC, Rijan Dhakal, Lokash Bam and Lalit Rajvanshi.

Along with Kushal, Sompal and Gulshan are also back in the team. Despite playing the first 3 matches of League 2 in Scotland, Sompal and Gulshan missed the tri-national Twenty20 series due to injuries. Anil Sah and Kiran Thagunna from the team that played in Scotland have not been included in the team going to Australia.

Nepal will play their first match against host team Northern Territory in Darwin on August 15. Nepal will then play Bangladesh A on August 16, Melbourne Stars on August 18, Hobart Hurricanes on August 19, Melbourne Renegades on August 20 and Pakistan Shaheens on August 20. The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals after playing against each other in a round-robin league. The Nepali national team is going to play in Australia for the first time.
