On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China, the Consulate General of Nepal in Quangzhou (Guangzhou) has organized a friendly football competition on Friday. In the competition, the Nepali team was defeated by 3-1 goals.
A group of Nepalis from China and professional players from the Chinese side participated in the Yan Cha Kang stadium in Haichu district. Such a game was organized between a group of Nepalis and NRNA Nepalis who are doing business in China and Chinese players. Nepali youth used to participate in the Consulate Cup competitions organized by the Consulate General of different countries in Guangzhou.
In addition to displaying sportsmanship between the participants of both nations, the Consulate General said that a football competition was held between the Nepali representative team and the Chinese team in Guangzhou to commemorate seven decades of diplomatic cooperation between Nepal and China.
The national anthems of Nepal and China were sung at the start of the program along with the official flag-raising ceremony. Lin Yanfan, Deputy Director General of Sports Administration of Guangzhou Municipality and Consul General Bharat Khanal emphasized the role of sports in strengthening bilateral relations.
Director of the Asia Division of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Guangzhou Provincial People's Government Chan Chian also participated in the event. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary, a cake was celebrated while a 90-minute football match demonstrated the spirit of friendship, the participants said. Trophies and medals were awarded to the winning team. According to the Consulate General, special awards were also given to the best player and the highest scorer.
