The grassroots football program "FIFA Football for Schools" aimed at students aged 4 to 14 years has also started in Nepal on Thursday. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli launched the campaign at Dasharath Stadium. The Prime Minister started the campaign by handing over balls to the teachers and students of Kaustubh Academy, one of the participating schools in the program held in the capital.

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has set the goal of conducting this program in 1,072 schools in all 77 districts. According to ANFA, 32 thousand 640 balls will be distributed in that order.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino initiated the  "Football for Schools" program for six years in collaboration with UNESCO. Launched in Lebanon in 2019, the program aims to contribute to the education, development and empowerment of nearly 700 million children worldwide. So far, this program is being held in 139 countries. ANFA has carried out the program in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and Youth and Sports.

Prime Minister Oli encouraged the young players participating in the program and announced that they will be able to play in a stadium with a capacity of 50,000 spectators. He said, "The government has given priority to sports development. Now a new football stadium with a capacity of 50,000 spectators will be built at Suryavinayak in Bhaktapur. Kalila Nanibavu, present here, we will be able to play in that stadium in the coming days. The 'FIFA Football for Schools' program was launched under the direct supervision of Manager Antonio Bueno Sanchez and Technical Advisor Alberto Giacomini.
