Bharatpur Metropolitan City-15 Rampur, the work of Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium, which is under construction, has been completed in one year, according to the construction side. Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation started the construction of the stadium with the support. But after the foundation separated from the work saying that there was no cooperation, the Bharatpur Metropolitan Corporation took ownership and started the work again.
After the city took ownership, an agreement was signed with the construction company on June 23 of last year to complete the work within 30 months. According to the construction company, the physical progress of 32 percent and the financial progress of 26 percent have been around the year of the agreement. There will be two towers on the north and south sides of the stadium. The ground floor slope of the north tower is currently being worked on in full swing.
'The year and day of the agreement has been completed. Financial progress is around 26/27 percent. Physical progress has crossed 32 percent," said Dharmendra Gupta, a project engineer working on behalf of the construction company. A stadium is being constructed with a parapit of 16,000 spectators. Though the tower and parapit construction work has progressed, the field work has not started.
Gupta said that the slope of the tower on the north side will be completed in a few days. After that, there will also be a south facing tower slope. The tower on the north side will house VVIP and media box. The tower on the south side will house players, coaches and people related to team management. Both these towers will have three floors. Now the slope of the ground floor is smooth. There will be a parapit in two sections on the east and west sides of the
tower. The parapit of section one of the stand i.e. parapit 'A' towards the west from the tower has been sloped. Half of the slope of the number two section of Stand 'A' has been done and work is going on to place the poles for the slope of the other half,'' informed Gupta. After that, they started laying form for the slope in the 3rd section of stand 'B' which is east of the tower, he said. In
stand i.e. parapit 'B' section number 4, only PCC and soling PCC work has been done but the work of parapit slope is left. The field and pitch work will not start this year. We will start that work next year. It was seen that it would be better to do the pitch and ground work at the end," he said. There is a period of 30 months to complete the work and now 18 months are left to complete the work after 12 months.
In between, there was a shortage of iron rods and cement. Therefore, we are now about a month behind in the progress of the work. Otherwise, the work is satisfactory. "Work is going on all around," said Engineer Gupta.
Under the leadership of Bharatpur Metropolitan Corporation, the construction of the stadium is underway with the support of the state and federal governments. Its construction cost is 785 million 91 thousand rupees.
On January 16, 2075, an agreement was signed in Kathmandu regarding the construction of a cricket stadium in Rampur, Chitwan. A stadium is going to be built on a 20-bigha land in Rampur, which is in the name of Tribhuvan University but is being used by the University of Agriculture and Forestry.
After providing the land, Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation announced that it would build a stadium within two years at a cost of around 3 billion with the help of Nepalis from all over the country. But after getting support, the foundation stopped working from August 2078. On December 2 of the same year, the foundation wrote a letter to the metropolis to take ownership of the stadium.
The corona infection started by affecting the whole world not even a year after the start of the work. The foundation separated from the construction of the stadium saying that the support was not received as expected, and the loan amounting to Rs. A debt that has not yet been repaid.
On October 21, 2080, the Metropolitan Municipality agreed to complete the construction of the stadium together with the Bagmati State Government. After the agreement, on 23rd November, the federal government decided to advance the Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium as a project of national pride. In June of last year, the work went ahead with an agreement with the construction company. Before that, the foundation had started the construction of pillars, parapets and ground of the stadium.
