Damages have been imposed on the contractor company that failed to upgrade the Trivi Cricket ground in Kirtipur and build parapets and install floodlights. After the work was not completed even on the specified date, the contractor company was paid compensation according to the previous agreement.
According to the agreement, zero point zero five percent of the total amount of the project will have to be paid as daily compensation . According to the Ministry of Urban Development, more than two lakh rupees should be paid daily for compensation.
Ministry spokesperson Narayan Prasad Mainali informed that BKOI KCDC BG's joint venture company (JV) for making the parapet of the field and Vishan Ishwari JV for floodlight connection had signed an agreement with the Federal Secretariat Construction and Management Office under the Ministry on February 19 and 22. ``An agreement was made for Rs 49 crore 25 lakh to make the parapet and Rs 47 crore 37 lakh for the installation of floodlights,'' he said.
Chakraborty Kanth, the head of the Federal Secretariat Construction and Management Office said that on June 30th, the contractor company has been informed that they will be charged damages if they do not work within the stipulated time.
'On June 30th, we have already informed the construction company about default compensation (damage). Since Tuesday, they have been working on daily wages. Daily compensation will be charged until the work is completed,' he said, 'There is a legal provision that one can work for a maximum of 200 days after paying the compensation, ie 10 percent of the total amount of the project. If there is no work even during that period, there is a provision to blacklist the construction company.' Kanth informed that the construction company promised to complete the work in a month. According to him, 4,000 chairs have been installed and three poles have arrived out of six floodlights. Financial progress towards Parapit has been 63 percent and physical progress has been 77 percent. Kanth informed that 29 percent financial and 45 percent physical progress has been made towards floodlight connection.
