Nepal scored an easy 6-1 victory over Bhutan in their first match of SAFF Women's U-20 Championship on Friday. Purnima Rai was the hero of the victory in the match at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka, Bangladesh and she scored 4 goals with a hat trick.
With this victory, Nepal has 3 points in the competition conducted on the basis of double round robin. With the loss, Bhutan was limited to zero points. In the first match of the day, the hosts Bangladesh had a one-sided 9-1 victory over Sri Lanka.
Because of this closeness, Bangladesh was on top in all three points by goal difference. Sri Lanka was the bottom of the four participating teams with zero points.
