Nepal has won the title of ACC U-16 Eastzone Cup cricket tournament held in Malaysia.
Nepal won the title of this tournament by defeating Singapore by 2 wickets in the final match.
Nepal completed the target of 114 runs given by Singapore by losing 8 wickets in 29 overs. Joy Thapa scored the most 24 runs for Nepal. Shivansh Bajgai scored 20 runs, Shubham Khanal scored 18 runs, Prashidh Jaishi scored 17 runs, Pradhan Yadav scored 13 runs and Abhay Yadav scored 10 runs.
In Singapore, Kapish Venkataraman took 4 wickets, Yawan Pandey took 2 wickets and Vedansh Gupta took 1 wicket. Before that, Singapore, who won the toss and elected to bat first, were bowled out for 113 runs in 40.5 overs. Opener Rohan Austin Arun scored the highest 23 runs for Singapore.
He played 84 balls and hit 2 boundaries. Similarly, captain Rihan Naik scored 15 runs, Vedansh Gupta scored 12 runs and Akash Teja scored 10 runs. No other batter scored in double figures.
Nepal's Abhay Yadav and Shushil Bahadur Rawal took 3/3 wickets to cover Singapore cheaply. Shubham Khanal took 2 wickets and captain Vipin Prasad Sharma took 1 wicket.
On Thursday, Nepal defeated Malaysia by 9 wickets in the semi-finals to reach the finals, while Singapore defeated Hong Kong and confirmed the clash with Nepal for the title.
Nepal also won the East Zone Cup title in 2023. Before that, ACC had been organizing the tournament under the name of U-16 Eastern Region and Nepal won the title consecutively in 2017 and 2019.
