Brazil confirmed their selection for the 2026 World Cup in North America on Wednesday. Brazil achieved this feat by defeating Paraguay 1-0 in the South American World Cup qualifier in Sao Paulo.
This is also the first win for Brazil since Carlo Ancelotti came as a new coach.
Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior scored the only decisive goal for Brazil, the five-time World Cup champion and the only team that has been selected in all World Cup editions so far. He converted Matthes Cunha's pass into a goal in the 44th minute. Before that, Uruguay beat Venezuela 2-0 in the next qualifying match.
Before that, Australia beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 in the Asian Qualifiers on Tuesday night and they also booked tickets for the World Cup in Canada, America and Mexico. This is the seventh time that Australia has qualified for the World Cup. Saudi Arabia will now have to play a play-off for selection.
