Madhesh Pradesh's Aditya Yadav and Sudurpaschim Pradesh's Gauri Kumari Saud won gold in the U-14 National School Games in the 100m athletics race on Sunday. Aditya Chhatra and Gauri stood first in Chhatra.
Aditya completed the prescribed distance in 11.6 seconds at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar. Surendra Pariyar of Karnali region won silver and Ankit Tajpuria of Koshi region won bronze.
Gauri spent 14.6 seconds to cover the prescribed distance in the competition organized by the National Sports Council. Karnali's Goma Shahi won the silver and Koshi's Prakriti Kafala won the bronze.
Ayan Rana of Gandaki province became the first in the student 400 meters race. He finished the race in 55.6 seconds.
Rohit Dhami from Sudurpaschim was second and Priyanshu Shah from Koshi was third. Karnali's Sushma Budha took the top spot in the female category with a time of 69.3 seconds. Aradhya Chalise from Gandaki became the second and Shilvi Naga from Bagmati Pradesh became the third.
Surendra Sunar of Karnali became the first in student long jump. He jumped 5.98 meters. Nitesh Gachchdar from Koshi came second and Mohan Periyar from Far West came third. Lumbini's Anuja Tharu Choudhary became the first in the women's event with a jump of 4.17 meters. Karuna Chand of Karnali was second and Prakriti Kafle of Koshi was third.
Karnali has won 2 golds on the first day of athletics including 12 events, competing for 6 golds. Sudurpaschim, Gandaki, Madhesh and Lumbini won 1 gold each.
