Police constable Lakpa Ngima Sherpa has won the women's title of the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon this year.

Sherpa, a resident of Khijidemba rural municipality-9 in Okhaldhunga district, managed to win first place in the marathon organized by Himalaya Expedition Company by completing the distance of 42 km from Everest Base Camp to Namche. Chief District Officer Anoj Kumar Ghimire and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Manojit Kunwar honored police constable Sherpa, who won the first place in the

competition, in a program organized in Namche. Prazia Ghimire praised the winner Sherpa for raising the dignity of the police even in the field of sports. 

winner Sharpa completed the prescribed distance in 5 hours and 15 minutes. In the competition, Anita Rai won the second place by covering the distance in 5 hours and 18 minutes, while Dilkala Kulung won the third place by covering the distance in 5 hours and 40 minutes.

marathon competition is organized on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the successful ascent of the world's highest peak Mount Everest.
