Napoli won the Italian Serie A title in the last game of the season. Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku scored as Napoli beat Cagliari 2-0 on Friday night to become Serie A champions for the fourth time. The team became the league champion for the second time in the last three years.

With Napoli's victory, the crowd at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium went wild. Napoli finished just 1 point ahead of nearest rivals Inter Milan. Inter won 2-0 in Como. Defending champions Inter were limited to 10 players after goalkeeper Pepe Raina was shown a red card just before half-time. This was also the last match of Raina's playing career.

Napoli were in 10th place last season when Inter won the league title. "Again, it's been possible and it's been great." This season has been our best. Thanks to all the players for this. They have worked very hard. Especially the players who won the league two years ago played very well," said Napoli coach Antonio Conte.  Conte is rumored to be leaving Napoli despite winning the

title. It has been reported in various media that Conte is complaining because the owner of the club, Aurelio De Laurentiis, did not invest wholeheartedly. But Conte denies this. "I have a good relationship with the owner of the club and his family," Conte said, "I got to know him and he got to know me." We are celebrating the league title together and we are both winners even though we are a little different.'

McTominay and Lukaku became Napoli's new heroes. Scotland midfielder McTominay was named player of the season. His acrobatic volley at the break was his 12th of the season. McTominay gave Napoli the lead in Naples at the top of the table when Inter took a 21st minute goal from Stephane de Verge in Como.

Inter's focus will now be on Saturday's Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
