The 15th edition of the Presidential Running Shield sports competition will be held in Kathmandu from May 28 to 30. According to the decision of the Executive Committee of the National Sports Council, the preparations for the competition have started.
The meeting of the management committee has decided to request the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the invitation as the competition will be inaugurated by the President. The
committee's meeting held on Sunday has assigned responsibility to the relevant sports associations and head coaches regarding the opening and operation of the competition. Athletics, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Karate, Taekwondo and Usu competitions will be held in Running Shield.
Council Member-Secretary Tanklal Ghising has instructed the Management Committee for the Presidential Running Shield Project, which is the main basis for the search for sports talent.
Secretary of the management committee Meenkumar Sharma said that players from the provincial team will be made to participate in the presidential running shield at the central level through the municipality and district. 686 players and 17 officials from seven provinces, 49 girls/49 boys from each province, will participate. Secretary Sharma said that participation is expected from all the seven provinces.
Athletics and Usu are scheduled to be played at Dasharath Stadium, Karate and Taekwondo at Satdobato and Kabaddi at the National Table Tennis Training Center at Lanchaur.
