Nepal has been selected for the ICC T20 Women's World Cup Global Qualifier. Nepal has qualified for the Global Qualifier by defeating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Super Three in the ongoing Asia Region Qualifier held in Bangkok, Thailand.
After losing the toss and batting at the Turdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok, Nepal completed the target of 115 runs given by the UAE by losing five wickets in 19.3 overs.
Captain Indu Verma scored 30 unbeaten runs for Nepal. In his captaincy innings, Nepal was able to make a place in the global qualifiers. Similarly, Ruveena Chhetri scored 23 runs, while Jakkan Khadka scored 21 runs.
Isa Rohit Ojha, S Kote and Vaishnavi Mahis took one wicket each in bowling for UAE.
Before that, UAE, who were invited to bat first, scored 114 runs losing 7 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.
Isa Rohit Ojha scored 39 runs for UAE. Similarly, Tritha Satish scored 21 runs, Heena Haris Hochandani scored 20 runs and Lavanya Kenny scored 12 runs.
Manisha Upadhya took the most four wickets for Nepal. He has taken four wickets spending 20 runs in four overs. Similarly, Kavita Kunwar took two wickets and Rajmati Airi took one wicket. In a pressured game where
must be won, Nepal won by five wickets. Now even if the rest of the match with Thailand is lost, there will be no impact on Nepal. UAE is out of the tournament after losing both matches in Super Three.
Thailand has secured its place in the global selection after defeating the UAE by 54 runs on Sunday in the 'Super Three' of Asia qualifiers.
