Nepal Army won the marathon title of the First International Sagadawa Running Festival. Runners of the Nepal Army won both the men's and women's titles of the 42.2 km marathon held at Solukhumbu Headquarters Salleri on Sunday.
On the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, Army's Karan Rawal won the men's title in the Saga Dawa Running Festival and Art Conference organized by Choling Monastery in Thekchen Pe.
Similarly, Sunsari Rokaya of Nepal Army won the first women's title. Kul Bahadur Basnet and Milan Rai have won the second and third place respectively. Similarly, the second and third places for women were won by Anita Rai of Solukhumbu and Choki Sherpa of Okhaldhunga respectively. Runners who won first, second and third place in the marathon, both men and women, received medals and certificates along with prize money of 75,000, 50,000 and 35,000 respectively. Tenji Sherpa, president of the monastery, and Ngimatendup Sherpa, secretary, distributed prizes to the winners.
Similarly, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the half marathon 21 km were won by Pasang Lhamu Tamang, Shornima Sherpa and Ang Phurwa Sherpa. Similarly, Manakumar Rokka, Gopal Tamang and Kiran Thulung have won on the men's side. Those who won the first, second and third positions in the half marathon have received the prize money of Rs 35,000, 25,000 and 15,000 respectively.
Since 11 km runners Shiv Rayamazhi, Tank Bahadur Karki and Dipeshhang Rai have achieved first, second and third place by crossing the prescribed distance, while Rayal Rai has won first place in women's 11 km race. They received medals and certificates along with prize money of 25,000, 20,000 and 15,000 respectively .
Pukar Basnet, Vikas Tamang and Mingma Dorjee won the first, second and third place respectively in the fun run 5 km race held on Saturday, while Karishma Magar, Ronishka Karki and Tika Bhujel won the prize money of 15,000, 10,000 and 5,000 respectively for the women and received medals and certificates.
